DIY Sweet Crackers

Christmas can become pricey if you don’t look for ways to be more frugal with gift giving. If you are on a tight budget, these sweet crackers are a great idea. Just gifting one packet of sweets may not look like much, but these crackers jazz up the gift for little expense.

What You Will Need:

  • Toilet roll tubes
  • Wrapping paper off cuts
  • Ribbon
  • Sticky tape
  • Sweets (in a packet or cellophane for hygiene)

Method:

  • Cut a piece of wrapping paper to cover the tube with about 2 inches over hang on each end.
  • Stuff your packet of sweets into the tube.
  • Roll the wrapping paper around the tube and tape to secure.
  • Scrunch the overhanging bits of paper at the ends of the tube and tie with ribbon to create the cracker effect.

These really are so simple to make, and you probably can source everything from around your house. You can create many of these sweet crackers for little expense. These also make great DIY decorations for your tree. You don’t even need to stuff them if you don’t wish.

Paper Chains

Simple yet effective. Cut even strips of paper in your colour theme. Loop them through each other and tape into a circle. Continue on until a chain forms.

Painted Pine Cones

This is simple craft that can be totally free if you collect your own pine cones. Dry your pine cones thoroughly, then paint to compliment your colour scheme. I like to paint the the tips white to give a snowy effect.

Cinnamon Bundles

These decorations smell divine. All you need is cinnamon sticks and twine. Tie bundles together using the twine. You can hang these as tree decorations or dot them in amongst garlands etc.

Dried Orange Slices

Dried orange slices not only look pretty, they smell lovely. Thinly slice an orange and bake in the oven until thy are dry but not burnt. You can use them as pot-pourri or thread them with string to hang from garlands or the tree.
